Our Options

Personal care in a comfortable setting

At Forest Hills of DC, we offer short-term rehabilitation (also known as short-term nursing care) long-term nursing care and respite care, all set in our licensed, on-site health care center.

In all three cases, residents receive person-centered and dedicated care from an experienced team. Private and semi-private rooms are available, registered nurses are present 24 hours a day, and care plans are developed around each resident’s needs and priorities.

Short-term rehabilitation (also known as short-term nursing care) at Forest Hills of DC supports recovery after an illness, injury or surgery in a comfortable health care center setting. Based on availability, our admissions team will place short-term residents in private rooms. During their stay residents will also have access to life enrichment programs, entertainment, beautifully landscaped outdoor areas and welcoming dining rooms within the health care center.

Full-time Goodwin Rehabilitation therapists provide physical, occupational and speech therapy in a spacious rehab gym. The gym includes a simulated apartment with a full kitchen and bathroom, allowing residents to practice everyday tasks before they return home.

When a resident needs more support than assisted living can provide, long-term nursing care is available in our licensed, on-site health care center.

Residents receive care from registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers and dietitians, with a personalized care plan developed under the supervision of a board-certified physician specializing in geriatrics. Life enrichment programs are also offered based on each resident’s needs and preferences.

Registered nurses are present 24 hours a day, and Forest Hills of DC maintains close ties to nearby Sibley Memorial Hospital, MedStar and other local hospitals in case of emergencies.

Nursing respite care at Forest Hills of DC can give someone recovering from an illness or surgery more time to recuperate before returning home. Respite stays are private pay and can last as long as is needed.

During their stay, residents have access to:

  • Supportive personal care 24/7
  • Medication management
  • Freshly prepared meals
  • Events, programs and activities
  • Access to therapeutic services
