Understanding your costs
Making a move is a big decision. We encourage you to consult your financial advisor to help you work through this process. What our residents are saying
Frequently asked questions
What is a no-commitment rental community?
A no-commitment rental community allows residents to pay monthly rent rather than a large upfront entrance fee. At Forest Hills of DC, this model provides flexibility, with the option to enjoy modern apartments, services and amenities without a long-term financial commitment.
How soon can I move in?
Availability varies, but apartments are often available more quickly than at Life Plan Communities with lifecare contracts. A member of our team can walk you through current openings and help you plan your move.
What does monthly rent include?
Your monthly rent covers your apartment as well as many services and amenities, such as utilities, housekeeping, dining, social programs, fitness opportunities and more.
What services are included in Assisted Living at Forest Hills of DC?
We have four levels of assisted living: Light, moderate, enhanced and comprehensive.
- Light may include supervision, assistance with physical tasks or occasional medicine and appointment reminders.
- Moderate may include supervision, physical assistance, orientation cues, help with meals and support with light housekeeping.
- Enhanced may include more frequent supervision, hands-on support with physical tasks, help with daily activities and cues that bring comfort and structure.
- Comprehensive may include close supervision, ongoing orientation cues, help with complex medical needs, incontinence care and 24-hour support.
What is the difference between short-term nursing care and long-term nursing care?
Short-term nursing care is typically for someone recovering after an illness, injury, surgery or hospital stay. It can include skilled nursing support and rehabilitation to help the individual regain strength and return home when possible.
Long-term nursing care is for residents who need ongoing support beyond what assisted living can provide. This may include help with daily routines, more complex health needs or nursing support that is needed around the clock.
Can residents transition between levels of care?
Of course. We understand that a resident’s needs may change over time, and we make it as seamless as possible to transition to additional care. The Forest Hills of DC team works with residents and their families to understand what support is needed, review available options and help coordinate the next step.
In many cases, residents can receive additional support while staying close to familiar people, routines and surroundings.
What additional services are available?
Residents enjoy the privacy of their own apartment with personal care services delivered directly to them should they need the support. They can also take advantage of a range of specialized healthcare services from Goodwin Living Health, including onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy from Goodwin Rehabilitation, our groundbreaking StrongerMemory brain health program, and care coordination from Goodwin Living At Home.
Is the campus pet friendly?
Yes, as long as they adhere to our pet policy. Home just wouldn’t feel the same without our best friends by our side!
